Hello Girls Inc. of Halton supporters!
Today we are highlighting two of our supporters, Mark and Zeena Appleby, the owners of Matador Eyeworks in Milton. We sat down with this incredible couple to talk about their support for Girls Inc. of Halton and what the organization means to them.
Mark and Zeena found out about Girls Inc. of Halton through their daughter joining one of the in-school programs in elementary school. “It’s so seamless,” Mark comments on the process of signing the girls up for programming. Ever since their daughter became part of Girls Inc. of Halton’s programs, they’ve had a love for the organization and a goal to help spread the word about it.
This month, the Appleby’s are raising money for Girls Inc. of Halton through donating a portion of their profits and holding a raffle for gift baskets at their store. This couple started their give back program in part to celebrate Zeena’s 50th birthday, which happened on Sept. 4, 2018.
Zeena wanted to give back as she reached this milestone, and Girls Inc. of Halton was the first organization she thought of when planning the program. “We want to … create awareness about Girls Inc., too,” says Mark about the program. The couple also held an event to celebrate Girls Inc. of Halton on Sept. 27 at their store.
The couple commented on how positive the influence Girls Inc. of Halton is in Milton, especially for the young girls who participate in the programs. “They’re learning stuff and they don’t even realize,” says Zeena, commenting on her daughter’s own experience in the Girls Inc. of Halton in-school program.
Thank you to Mark and Zeena for the ongoing support of our organization and for choosing Girls Inc. of Halton as the first organization to spread awareness and raise funds for as part of their give back program!
